In terms of luxury hotels, Ibiza has an enormous range to offer the most discerning traveler. Amenities and ambiance served up with old world flair and tradition will help ease the distraction of being close to over 50 beaches. Food and drink are sumptuous and elegant, and the vibrant beat of the island life will make for a world of enchantments. This paradise within the Mediterranean paradise has a pulsing night life to compliment the sophisticated ease of the days.

Club music is one of the city’s more recent innovations, and is an absolute necessity to drive the rhythms of the night. Youth culture is high, both locally and for international travelers, and the music that’s come to be known as Balearic beat is one of the city’s musical cornerstones. It came to popularity in the late 80s and reached its highest peak in the mid-90s. Balearic beat is an electronic dance music that is characterized by slow, heavy pulses (90-110 beats per minute) combining swing beats and Rhythm and Blues. African, Latin, soul, and dub are also added to the mix, to make a music that is meant to mesmerize, as well as help young kids to jump around with grace and rhythm! Beach rave culture here helped to form the style, and it has lasting impact on techno music around the world.

Interestingly, the DJs who play Balearic beat refuse any such definitions of their music. They will say that Balearic Beat is characterized by a lack of definition, and only refers to the DJs ability to play across a mix of styles, to turn styles on a dime and innovate in the middle of the song, and a total subscription to the idea of trans-style. One of the innovators of Balearic Beat is Enigma, an artist who makes his home here in Ibiza.
