Boxing Elephants in Thailand

I was really excited about landing in Bangkok Thailand . Mostly I was looking forward to the food. I’ve been craving for the curries and most of all the pad thai . After we arrived in Bangkok we found out just how many hotels in Thailand here were and virtually had no problems getting a room at a great rate even without reservations.
Our first day in Bangkok, we spent time searching for the muy thai boxing . The light rail didn’t run in the area we were staying at, so we rode the river taxi which dropped us off near the stadium. The river taxi was an experience all of its own. Everyone waits on the pier and when the river taxi pulls up, everyone piles in filling up the boat to capacity. Taking the river was a great way to avoid the congestion of Bangkok road traffic; it’s even less expensive than taking a regular taxi. After we got off the river taxi we only had a short walk to the stadium. The route we walked went through Lumphini Park , a huge fitness park with a swimming pool, basketball court and even a soccer field. We felt like stopping to play, but we were on a mission.
The muy thai boxing stadium was huge and we were eager to watch the fights, but we found out that the tickets were too expensive. Sadly, we headed back to the area of our hotel, but first, we stopped to get dinner. For some reason, I guess jet lag, I didn’t finish eating my Kahi. I was looking forward to it the whole trip. Instead, we just went back to our hotel room and crashed.
The next couple of days we walked around town shopping and eating, feeling much better and ravenous. The shopping was great; I bought all sorts of clothes and trinkets, which later I mail back to my home since I really didn’t have room in my backpack. But, while we were eating lunch in a restaurant an elephant walked by. We were so delighted, we stopped eating to take pictures for our travel blog as proof we were definitely in Thailand.
