Should you start your own company?

Posted on July 27, 2009 - Filed Under Business

The economy has done a curious thing to people. Some people have decided to completely give up on finding a job in their old field. The reasons for this are vast. It may be because they have simply given up on finding a job in their field or it may be because they don’t see themselves working in that field anymore. If you have been laid off, and you have the right attitude you should take it in stride. If you can’t find work in your previous field think about if what you used to do really brought passion to your life. You may just be able to make that passion into your next job or business venture.

It’s scary to go out on your own, and starting your own business will not be an easy feat. And you will have to accept the fact that you may fail at doing this. But if you are willing to take the responsibility that comes along with starting your own business you might just be the right type of person that will succeed.

The first thing you need to consider is what kind of business you think you would be good at, or would like to start. Do you see yourself starting a traditional business? A business that sets up an office or perhaps a boutique, or do you think you would be better suited for an internet business?

No matter what type of business you are looking to start try to think of a gap that needs to be filled in the market. Steve Barbarich did this after having a poor experience with purchasing a bath tub for his home remodel online. So he decided to start his own luxury hot tub website that put an emphasis on customer service.

All you need is an idea and some motivation! Good luck!
