Coolest Theater Tickets in Plaid

I bought the Coolest Theater Tickets on a chilly Friday night where I got the last ticket for the musical ‘Forever Plaid.’ I’m so glad that I managed to get to the box office in time to purchase the one and only ticket left for the night. All the 50 people behind me were surely disappointed. But, not I. ‘Forever Plaid,’ is celebrating its 20th year in Louisiana this very month of July. I was told this musical will blow my mind and make me smile and laugh so much that I’d better do mouth exercises before I attend a performance.

Playwright, Stuart Ross is also the director and choreographer, which probably explains the longevity of this now classic creation. I read several reviews that it’s his crazy sense of humor that brings ‘Forever Plaid,’ alive. There are four singing men who take barbershop quartet style to a new high. I’ll only reveal what the reviews have said about the plot of the musical. Apparently, there are four high school buddies with desires to cut an album. But, they have daily lives and jobs that interfere with this dream. So much so, that one of their songs ‘Stairway to the Stars’ was usurped by ‘Stairway to Heaven.’ Ah, yes, this plot does sound funny and fantastic indeed.

When I was inside the theater, I could barely contain my excitement. The musical lasted 90 minutes without an intermission. The four singing men literally sang their harmonizing hearts out. The songs seems to resonate with the 50′s, then turned into Calypso and then Perry Como-esk. We got to know all four men individually also, they all had solo’s too.

The Musical Director became a part of the show also. He played the piano for all 30 songs. The stage design was simple and went well with the songs. The background would change from blue to plaid. And, of course, the four men all wore something plaid. I highly recommend you make it a priority to see this musical. There is a reason that it’s lasted 20 years. It really cool.
