Fun Concert Tickets

Posted on August 4, 2009 - Filed Under Arts & Culture, Entertainment

A friend of mine texted me that he’ll be in town Thursday because he got some Fun Concert Tickets. I texted him back to ask what he considers fun and he texted me back saying tickets for the Drizzy Drake. My phone dropped out of my hand. I’m not much of a concert goer, actually, I rarely go to concerts, but this was dreamy Drake!  I needed to get a ticket, Drake is my main man, I need to see him live.

I rationalized that Thursday is a few days away, so there are probably tickets still available at reasonable prices. I first did a Google search, I’m not up on how one goes about getting tickets, and the first site starting price for the Drake concert was $50. Wow! Pretty steep for where the venue is located, small and ghetto. But, then I finally read further on and the venue was a ‘Meet & Greet’ group, but on top of buying the Drake concert ticket, I would also have to purchase a regular admission to get into the Meet & Greet. No way, I was going to pay $70 for a concert ticket.

I did a little more searching and found out that the concert was Sold Out online, at least at all the ticket sights. I refused to give up, so I checked out Craigslist, and found 2 people selling tickets for $45 and the other guy was selling for $65. I clicked on the $45 price and responded saying I’ll buy the tickets. I waited and waited and waited, no response! I text my friends saying that he’s the sole cause of all my misery today. Then I finally hear back from that Craigslist guy and he told me he’s dropping of all of his tickets at this head-shop place today and that I should go down there and purchase the ticket as soon as possible. I was at work, so I had to wait. I figured I knew where this head-shop was in general, but I didn’t. I had to call information to get the head-shops phone number to ask them where they were, when I finally found them and walked inside and asked to purchase a ticket for the Drake concert, they said they just sold the last one about an hour ago!

I was so disappointed, so deflated. I begged the guy to call up the ticket guy and ask if he had anymore tickets, that I just need one, one ticket. He did, but the ticket guy said that he had no more tickets. I was defeated, I literally slumped and headed out the head-shop door, when the guy at the counter said, ‘ah…here, take mine, it’s on the house.’  I was stunned, he said that he’s really not a Drake fan and the defeated look on my face just tore him up. Yay! I get to see Drake!
