Where is Mauritius

Ok so I get this email from a friend and they say they are going to be headed to Mauritius, and I am thinking where on earth is this? I mean I am fairly well versed in geography and know some pretty obscure places but his on I had to look up in a map. Turns out Mauritius is located off the coast of Madagascar, you know the big island off the east cost of Africa in the Indian Ocean, in the Indian Ocean. These Islands are small and about 500 miles from Madagascar. My friend was very excited from the tone of the email. They had booked five star hotels Mauritius on the beach for there stay. Who would have known there were 5 star hotels there? It sounds like it will be a fun and relaxing time, well after all the time traveling. I know it took nearly 35 hours to get to Cape Town South Africa last year. Add on several more hours to get to Mauritius, they will surely need a five star accommodations to relax in after that trip. They said in the email they were looking forward to time to spend together, relax and sun on the beach. They also mentioned they will be getting massages on the beach, soaking in hot tubs, getting body wraps and facials. Not only will they come back relaxed but more beautiful too. Well I am excited for them, they need to get away and from what I see on the Internet they have picked a far off place where they should be able to get plenty of relaxation in.
