Business Trip to Jakarta Becomes Exciting New Experience

My friends and I recently hung out at a sports bar to watch the 49ers football game. We hadn’t seen each other in a while, and we all like football and try to do this every Sunday, but that rarely happens. I think the last time we all watched a game together was a month ago. So, we were all having a good time, eating hamburgers and chicken wings and had a couple of beers. Meanwhile one of the guys, Bob, brings up that he recently returned from a business trip in Indonesia. We were all surprised and exclaimed, Indonesia, what were you doing there? Joey didn’t even know where it was. It’s amazing what all can happen in a few weeks without seeing someone.
Well, Bob said he told all of us that he would be going, but no one remembered him saying so. What’s interesting is that he said it was actually beautiful and he had a great time there. We told him that was great and all, but we were watching the game and he would have to wait until half time to tell the rest of the story, which he did. And at half time, he studiously brought it back up. Heck, half of the guys forgot he had mentioned it at all, so it’s not surprising that he actually did tell us weeks ago and we just forgot.
So, it turns out Bob stayed in one of the Jarkar hotels and really enjoyed his stay. Generally when he goes somewhere on a work related trip, he spends most of his spare time in the hotel. Bob doesn’t pretend to get out much, and the hotel usually has a lounge with a television, and that’s as much socializing as he needs. He’s an engineer, and they tend to keep to themselves. It turns out he went to the National Museum of Indonesia, which he said was in a beautiful building and had an impressive collection of archeological relics. Joey thought that was a type of painting and asked if it was like Expressionism. Bob became interested in the city because there happened to be some incredible performances that included traditional music at the hotel. Naturally, the guys and I were really impressed with his trip, and even want to go as a group sometime.
