Jackson Mississippi for the Blues

Posted on October 13, 2009 - Filed Under Travel

I really enjoy visiting Jackson, Mississippi we make is a regular occurrence as much as we can. It is just about in the center of the state of Mississippi and is frequently referred to the heart and soul of Mississippi and with the food and music we go there for I would agree. My buddy and I like to hit Jackson, Mississippi in the early fall for a weekend of bar hopping, drinking and taking in blues, blue grass and country music. Always a great time and never a dull moment when we are hitting the town!

Jackson is an old city so it has a lot of really cool buildings. The classical style of the capitol building and the other official buildings downtown are cool to look at and take pictures of while we walk around the town. I always wonder what life was like when those buildings were built a hundred or more years ago.

The hotels Jackson we stayed at was in a great location. We were able to walk to a lot of the restaurants and bars we were wanting to get to. I have to say we did stuff ourselves on some great southern cooking. BBQ chicken and pork, corn, mashed potato, corn bread we stuffed our selves on the great food. After eating we wandered the streets in search of some great blues to listen to and have a beer or two. Never disappointed we came across a great place with an out door court yard right off where the band was playing. Albe to enjoy the out doors have a drink and hear some great music.

Now that our annual trip is done and our waste lines expanded we are talking about the next time we will head on over to Jackson, Mississippi for some more fun and great tunes.
