Outdoor Recreation in Fremont

Ernest Hemingway once wrote about Northern California, something to the affect of his colder winter he had ever spent somewhere, was in San Francisco in the summertime. This is mis-leading as there are many fine and sunny days in the region. The city of Fremont has many options for outdoor fun. One of the most popular spots for the people of the city, and those touring through, is the Fremont Central Park. This is a large park, of four hundred and fifty acres, located in Central Fremont. Easy access to the park, brings many outside in the summer time, for picnics, long walks along the shores of the Lake, Elizabeth, sporting events, and a spot of golf on the Fremont Park Golf Course.
Along with the park, many enjoy the Aqua Adventures theme park throughout the summer months. This is definitely a great spot for people of all ages, and most certainly for those traveling with children. The park was designed with many rides and interactive adventures with a focus on family fun, family gatherings and family events. Many of the larger companies and businesses in the city often take their gatherings to this water park as well. There are four slides in all, which provide high speed entertainment through twists and turns and yes, water…the slides “empty out” into a calm water pool that is perfect for youngsters to wade and splash around in. For those wishing a bit moreexercise in their fun, there is a full sized swimming pool with five lanes, for those who wish to swim a few laps following an all day game of golf.
Also a great place to take the kids is the working farm of Ardenwood. A day at Ardenwood includes a look at the huge farm, a petting area for the children, a hike through the surrounding forests, and a walk through the historical Patterson House Mansion. The city is growing daily, and it is always easy to find hotels, find a great nightspot, and contrary to Hemingway’s statement, fun in the sun in Fremont.
