Late September through October is a great time to visit the Dallas, Texas region . Not only is the weather perfect but it’s time for the annual state fair. The fair opens the last Friday of September and runs for the next 24 days.

There are many reasons people flock to the state fair oddities, thrill rides, and things to suit just about any interest are available. The Texas state fair boasts over seventy fair rides and an auto show complete with a test drive track. If heights don’t bother you ride the feris wheel; The Texas Star is 212 ft tall, the tallest feris wheel in the United States since 1985. For the adventurous foodie there’s a wide variety of unique, though definitely not for the delicate palette, fried foods on hand. It seems they’re always finding something new to fry including, but not limited to: deep-fried oreo’s, twinkies, pork ribs, and fried cheesecake, deep-fried butter. Even soft drinks aren’t immune to being fried they offer a batter fried Coca-Cola.
