Language, Furniture, and Environment

It’s the hardest job in the world, but it’s also the most rewarding. Raising children is a very complex task. That probably goes without saying, but the challenges come at every turn, and they can always be surprising and unexpected. It’s said that when they’re very young, the challenges are mostly physical ones, and as they get older, the challenges are mental. Parenting always involves a little bit of both, and a whole lot of love.
With toddlers, one of the most exciting things to observe is the development of language. The first words are already well under way, and chances are, they’ve learned a whole lot more words than one is really aware of. But at this stage, they start putting words together to make sentences. Two-word sentences is the sign that toddler-hood has begun. From here, the language processes will become more complex, but for the immediate present, the challenge is to learn to decipher the vowels and consonants into a meaning.
Here, the atmosphere of the home is very important. Toddlers like to comment on just about everything, but they begin with tangible objects. Toddler furniture is often the focal point of conversation, since this is what they see during the bulk of their days and nights. Parents will usually be delightfully surprised to find that the young ones seem to have opinions about the objects, and are starting to create their own inner narrative, constructing a world of language based on where they are.
