With the increase in technology and the advancements in science, it is no wonder that there is a great demand for green energy. People are realizing that the forms of energy used today are not efficient or sustainable. As it becomes more and more expensive to sustain the type of lifestyle most people enjoy today, people are calling for new technology, new processes, and less expensive forms of energy. Recycling has really begun to catch on, especially once people began to see what can be made from recycled materials.

Recently, Green EnviroTech Holdings Corp. has announced plans to create two tire recycling plants with the help of Ebbros I Investment Group. Ebbros, based out of Kansas City, Missouri, will develop the plants and install all of the necessary equipment for the plants.

The tire recycling plants are designed to convert recycled general tires into oil. By partnering with Ebbros, Green EnviroTech Holdings Corp. will be able to enter the market in a quick and efficient way so as to revolutionize the market. Ebbros will also purchase all of the oil that is created at these two plants, which is estimated to be about 10,700 barrels per month for each plant.

Green EnviroTech Holdings Corp. is a plastics recovery and recyling company, which is based out of Riverbank, California. They remove contaminants from recovered plastic that are taken from automobiles that are shredded for metal. The recovered plastic is processed to produce plastic resin and light sweet crude oil. This process reduces the amount of residue that goes into landfills by up to 40 percent.

When recycling, it doesn’t matter what the brand of tire is, such as firestone tires, but as long as the plant has a continuous supply of old tires, they will be able to create the oil. These new recycling plants are a step in the right direction for green energy solutions and they will enter the market at a great time as these types of ideas are in high demand.

Wet Weather Driving Tips

Driving in rainy weather is just different that driving on a sunny day. Unfortunately most drivers do not take the care necessary, and this has caused thousands of otherwise avoidable accidents. Most of these are preventable with just practiced a few different methods. In some cities, where the rainfall during the year is limited, such as in Los Angeles, California or Phoenix, Arizona, the roads are more dangerous. During the months wherein there is no rainfall, the oil collects on the roadways.

Once the water hits it, the roads become incredibly slippery. The slippery conditions will ease as more rain falls, but during the first few hours it is best to proceed with caution. Discount tires, even those purchased from a reputable company known for their concern and attention spent to the safety of their tires, such as the Toyo Tire company or Cooper Tire
company, have difficulty finding traction in such extreme situations. And combine that with the distortion of perception and visibility that is caused by rain and the effects this has on oncoming headlights, well…this is usually when safe drivers realize it is time to slow down.

Forget 22″ rims and tires. Forget anything you have ever seen on the streets as far as rims go. Forget just about everything you have seen on the MTV series Pimp My Ride. Because the world’s biggest rims have been found, and let me tell you they are out of control and insane!

Talk about custom wheels. After doing an internet search I came across a picture of 40” chrome rims on a Black Chevy SUV. Overkill, surely, kind of awesome, yes!

With the specialty accessories rims and tires business growing rapidly it was just a matter of time before it had to get bigger and better. These rims are bigger than those on a semi-truck.

If you thought 20” rims were banging, then you have another thing coming. One has to wonder if this car can make it into any underground parking garages.

If you combined those rims with a raised truck you would be in business for one of the ultimate pimp my ride experiences. These rims look like you could fit small children inside of them and take them for a spin just like they were on an amusement park ride.

Rims are an easy way to change the look of your vehicle, and 40” ones will definitely do the trick. There has been a new re-emergence of these chrome wheels like we haven’t seen for many years. I believe wheels like these and the new advent of making chrome feel like it upgrades the car is car enthusiasts yearning for a past that they never were really a part of.

Think back to the days where chrome was not custom, but completely expected. Cars these days feel like they are practically made out of plastic. Heck, most of the interior already is. And really, a bit of an upgrade never really did hurt anyone. 40” rims might though!

Lead or Mercury Contained Wheel Weights Banned

Lead wheel weights used to balance tires and prevent shimmying at high speeds are soon be a thing of the past with enactment of laws in Maine, Vermont and Washington and pending legislation in California.

In Washington, it will be illegal for those who sell new tire and wheel packages or rotate existing tires to install wheel weights containing lead beginning January 1, 2011. The law also requires the use of “environmentally preferable” wheel weights, which, according to news reports, will most likely be made of zinc or a steel alloy. Washington’s bill, HB1033, was signed into law on April 28, 2009.

Beginning January 1, 2011, Maine’s law prohibits the use of lead or mercury-containing wheel weights when a tire is replaced or rotated, and it bans the sale and distribution of lead or mercury-containing wheel weights. In 2012, a person cannot sell a new car in Maine if the wheel weights contain lead or mercury. Maine’s law, Public Law 125, was signed this week, May 12, 2009.

Vermont’s legislature passed a law, Act 193, last year that, among other lead-containing product bans, prohibits the use of lead wheel weights in state vehicles beginning January 1, 2010 and bans them from new motor vehicles starting September 1, 2011.

According to an article in the Spokesman Review, the Washington Department of Ecology estimates that about 5% of all lead wheel weights fall out while driving, leaving as much as 20 tons of lead on the side of the road or in parking lots. Lead is toxic and has been linked to brain damage and other developmental and behavioral problems, especially in children. Some tire and wheel dealers are already phasing out lead wheel weights, according to the article.

A lawsuit settlement with the three largest wheel weight manufactures will stop the distribution of lead wheel weights in California by the end of 2009, according to the Spokesman Review article. California State Senator Fran Pavley is sponsoring legislation, SB757, that would codify the settlement by prohibiting the manufacture, sale, or installation of lead wheel weights in the state.

All of the state bills/laws were sponsored and/or co-sponsored by National Caucus of Environmental Legislators’ participants.

The Dangers of DUI

Driving under the influence (DUI) is a leading killer in the United States today. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), 12,998 people died from alcohol-impaired driving crashes in 2007.

According to NHTSA data, 437 people died in Nevada in 2007 in alcohol-impaired crashes. In Las Vegas this month, UNLV student Lindsay Bennett was killed by a drunk driver. Each year Las Vegas lawyers deal with hundreds of license suspension and DUI cases. Nevada has established strict laws to help combat the prevalence of drunk driving; however, the Las Vegas strip is an alcohol haven and many people simply don’t get a cab or find a sober friend to drive for them.

Arizona also has a high number of alcohol-impaired crashes with 1,066 fatalities reported in 2007. In that same year, over 7,000 people were arrested for DUI. In 2008, over 6,000 people were arrested for DUI in Arizona. Phoenix lawyers certainly have their hands full, and convicting someone for driving under the influence may become even harder as blood alcohol content testing devices are under scrutiny.

Fitting the Bug Deflector

I’m purchasing a few additional accessories for my truck. One of the obstacles I ran into was finding the right bug deflector for the vehicle. Turns out, the process is actually really simple. Instead of buying a generic product, though, it is suggested you buy one that’s designed for the type of truck you have, so that the first is appropriate the whole way through.

I did the same thing when it came to finding the right back rack for my truck. It isn’t always easy to find a rack that fits with the truck correctly, but when you know what you are looking for, and you have a resource for it, the process is a lot easier. I found that it takes just a few minutes to look up sizes and features of the truck right on the website. For example, I have a Ford truck, so I went to Ford’s website for trucks to get all the specs on the truck I have. It made the process easier when buying the accessories I wanted.

If you need a truck rack or another type of accessory, I find it pretty easy to find accessories online. There are several great choices to choose from so you can even have some personalization to the items you buy.
