There are many different foods that inspire people to theorize how their tastes came to grace the tables of people. The invention of butter and beer were surely the products of a lot of trial and error after a few happy accidents, and pasta came from developments happening in several countries at once. But when it comes to the crawfish, it’s not hard to see how this came to be a staple food in Louisiana. The crawfish were there, and people decided to eat them.

With a little bit of trial and error, and a few happy accidents, butter and beer were found to be rather nice accompaniments, and fresh crawfish on a bed of pasta is quite nice. As long as there have been people in Louisiana, they have been eating crawfish, more than likely, and it’s this convergence of coincidences that brings people here to visit the towns, and check out the lovely hotels. Louisiana is more than crawfish, of course, but it’s not a bad place to start.

There is a lot to love about the crawfish. It’s rich in protein, low in fat, and the taste can range from simply good to way out of this world. There’s a whole lot to love about Louisiana, too.

There’s a spectacular feeling that comes when you start to cook outdoors. It doesn’t have to be just in the Summer, you can cook outdoor all throughout the year. You’ll see that our outdoor grills are extremely useful, even into the cold months. It’s also certainly true that having an outdoor kitchen suggests a lifestyle that sees food as an art, as well as having the magic to bring people together. Still, it’s very practical, and adds a lovely touch to the home and every meal cooked there. Imagining the pleasures of a Summer meal cooked outside might summon ready images of lazy days and terrific parties. Imagining Winter meals brings this fantasy into a whole new dimension.

Coffee House Dreaming

Kicking back and getting some time to relax with a nice cup of iced chai tea and listening to the chill music at the coffee house. It is a nice place to get out of the house for a little while get a little work done, some reading and catching up in emails too. Hanging here I can be around people but not necessarily interact with them if i don’t care to. And being more of an introvert than an extrovert this is perfect as far as I am concerned. Of course today I am happily minding my own business and doing my own thing here and a man sits down next to me. There is plenty of other places to sit why next to me. Over and over I see him looking at me out of the corner of my eye, seemingly to catch a return glance and begin some dread full conversation with me. i don’t always feel like this but some people have a very needy and desperate aire about them and he is one. Like if you get into a conversation with him it actually won’t be a conversations simply me listening to him go on endlessly about something that holds no interest to me. Sounds mean but I didn’t come here to make friends or have a conversation today. Just to get out of the house for a bit and do a little research on my up coming trip to Cape Town. With the air tickets booked and the car rental figured out it is time to review the offerings of Cape Town luxury hotel for a nice comfortable and relaxing place to stay. looking I find something on the water that sounds really good. Hearing the ocean while going to sleep at night this would be good and relaxing and not nearly as expensive as I had expected. Now with that booking done and this guy looking at me it is time for me to make my exit before having to talk to someone I don’t want to.

Local farmers markets have been popping up all over the country. This has been a growing trend for sometime now. The awareness of nutrition, locally grown foods and organics are the driving forces here. More and more people are shopping local, keeping their money circulating in their local. This local support helps to keep small farmers in business, artists and crafts and small business going. Specialty foods are grown by these local farmers, not the hugh genetically engineered crops of the corporation farms. Heirloom tomatoes, peppers, egg plants and other fruits and veggies too fragile for mass transportation on a corporate truck. Local foods are picked fresh and therefore having more flavor and vitamins. The local farmer is focused on sustainable growth and the use of natural means for fertilizing and pest control, thus being more respectful of the environment and the animals and plants that live in it. The products of there labor can be seen and purchased at local farmers market across the country and around the world. Locally grown organic food is gaining in awareness from the best Cape Town restaurants to the small town diners. At local farmers markets other items that have been locally produced are available too. Artisans selling there pottery, paintings, drawings, soaps, baked goods, chocolates and anything else you can imagine. These markets are empowering small business people and artists to be able to show and sell their work without the approval of middle men. The ability to take your product directly to the market place and get feedback for the customer instead of meeting the approval of a corporate buyer that has lost touch with the end users. Locally grown and produced goods are good for the environment and the economy keeping people employed and keeping dollars local. Locally grown food is fresh, healthy and nutritious lacking in the chemicals of the corporately produced food.

The food of Thailand is popular world wide. Whether the dishes are mild or some of the spicy dishes one has ever experienced, the one thing that sets the heat of the Thai dishes apart from other known dishes using chili peppers, such as the heat from the jalapeno use in Mexican dishes, is that the Thai spicing is very balanced, and the principle of harmony of flavors is applied to every dish. There are ceremonial type concerns that the chefs take care with such as many that work in the luxury Phuket hotels and some of the smaller establishments throughout the city. The combination of Western and Eastern traditional influences has produced a very unique way of cooking, that is distinctively Thai. Because so much is considered with each dish, such as by whom it is cooked or for whom it is cooked for, the occasion for the meal, each dish can vary considerably.

For many years and years, Thai cooking contained fresh vegetables, herbs, and seafood only. The history of the cuisine lies within the Buddhist community, which turned away from the use of big chunks of meat taken from large animals. Meat was always shredded. It has only been relatively recent, that the dishes now use the larger pieces of meat, as the various influences have added this characteristic and as the food has become more popular in the populations of the world that are not Buddhist. The Thai use of chilis is another new development in the history of the flavors. It was not until the 17 Century that the missionaries from Portugal introduced the peppers to Thailand. They brought them to the country from South America and throughout the rest of the century, other travelers have influenced the cuisine as well, such as the French, Dutch and the Japanese. Thailand is a city of mixed cultural backgrounds, and similar to Singapore cuisine, the cultures have added to the pot, creating truly distinguished flavors in the food of the countries in modern times.

Dubai to Host DPI Summit

-The Middle East Digital Print and Imaging Summit for 2009 will be held in Dubai, UAE on May 11th and 12th. Organized by Aspire Events, the summit will be held in the Madinat Jumeirah and is expected to attract participation from across the region.

This inaugural event will feature one-on-one interactions between buyers and vendors. It is designed to bring together analysts and techonolgy vendors with the key decision makers from large and medium enterprises from across the Middle East. The idea is to provide new ideas for redesigning “print and imagining workflow requirements” while helping companies “achieve tangible return on their investments.”

With many companies struggling to survive in the current global economy, organizers hope the event will expose companies to “solutions and technologies that promise to help them slash those excess costs” and “show proof of tangilbe returns on investment in technology.”

Events such as this summit bring together business leaders from around the region. In addition to providing vital information on the digital print and imaging sector, the conference will give visitors the chance to experience and explore Dubai itself. The city has become a popular destination for conferences and exhibitions with modern business hotels Dubai, large conference centers, and incidental attractions such as world-class restaurants, retail centers, and entertainment venues.
